WAXAHACHIE — Per information gathered from the Waxahachie Soccer Association social media site, the Aug. 5 registration period for the 4U through 6U fall seasons is drawing near.

Athletes and parents, however, will have the opportunity to sign up for the league and purchase needed gear when the WSA holds an in-person registration at Academy Sports + Outdoors located at 1650 U.S. Highway 77 in Waxahachie.

Children interested in signing up for the fall youth league are required to bring their birth certificate. The event begins at 10 a.m. and will end at 1 p.m.

"The season consists of 10 games played on Saturdays and some weekday nights," the WSA stated on its website. "A third party administrator schedules all 8U through 16U games for the Best Southwest Associations. We have no control over the dates or times of the schedules. Under 4- and Under 6-year-old games are scheduled by the Waxahachie Soccer Association."

The 4U and 6U Coed league registration fees are both $80 and include a uniform. The 8U and 10U non-coed fees are $80 and the 12U through 16U fees are $85. The WSA said the City of Waxahachie mandates an additional $8 per player field usage fee to all registrations — already added into the registration fees.

There is also a $5 family discount if families are registering more than one player. Late registration — if space is available — is an additional $10.

The WSA also advised players and parents to refer to the age chart published by the North Texas Soccer Association, a member of United States Youth Soccer and United States Adult Soccer, United States Soccer Federation and Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), to ensure proper registration.

Players must be 3 years old on or before Aug. 1 to play soccer in the fall or Jan. 1 to play soccer in the spring. The WSA is required to keep a copy of each players state certified birth certificate or other government issued documentation showing birth date for a player to be added to a team.

If the player was born in Texas a copy can be requested from the county courthouse. If the player was born outside of Texas a copy can be requested from Vitalchek," the website stated.
