CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - Retired but not retiring, former U.S. Supreme Court Justice David Souter is helping his native state of New Hampshire promote civics education in the public schools.

The 69-year-old Souter is a member of the New Hampshire Supreme Court Society, and is on a society task force that has made it its mission to get civics lessons back in the schools.

Souter also is expected to stress the importance of civics education in his keynote address to the American Bar Association at a Saturday meeting in Chicago.
