AUSTIN, Texas — Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott Wednesday rebuked the Obama administration for signing the United Nations (U.N.) Arms Trade Treaty. Saying the treaty doesn’t trump the Constitution, Abbott warned that the President was taking unprecedented action in signing away liberties guaranteed by the Constitution.
Attorney General Abbott previously warned in an April 2 letter to President Obama, that if the Treaty is ratified, Texas would lead swift legal action to enforce the Constitution’s guarantee of the right of the people to keep and bear arms.
