Virginia “Tiny” Ruth Godfrey, 86, of Waxahachie passed away Friday, Sept. 16, 2011, in Waxahachie. She was born to the late John Garland and Mona Fondrew Watson on Aug. 31, 1925, in Forreston, Texas.
Virginia graduated from Forreston High School and was employed by Lone Star Gas for more than 40 years. She married T.C. Godfrey on June 15, 1947. Virginia was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Waxahachie, where she was a member of the Elizabeth Sunday School Class. She was a volunteer for the Baylor Auxiliary.
She is survived by her cousins, Ann Breeding of Crosby, Minn., James Toone of Pecos, Texas, Betty Love Johnson of Shreveport, La., Jo Anna Lattery and Kay Nielsen of Minnesota; and numerous other cousins and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, T.C. Godfrey and her parents.
Services to celebrate her life are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011, at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home with Jerry Lemons officiating. Interment will follow at the Forreston Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19, 2011, at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home, Waxahachie.
Those serving as honorary pallbearers include Floyd Lutterall, Don Simons, Cotton Stewart, Horace Bratcher, Mike Horwell and Richard Todd.
