Vera Lometa Martin, 93, formerly of Midlothian, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2011, in Lancaster. She was born Dec. 12, 1917, in Waxahachie to William Thomas and Jesse Mae (Brintle) Carroll. Vera married Joe Edgar Martin on Dec. 23, 1933, in Ovilla and he preceded her in death in April 1993. She retired from Mount Lebanon Baptist Encampment after about 25 years of service. She was a lifetime member of Cedar Heights Baptist Church in Cedar Hill.
Survivors include two daughters, Earlene Crenshaw and husband, Wiley of Blooming Grove and Elizabeth Louise Hathaway of Cedar Hill; three sons, Bobby Joe Martin and wife, Linda of Cedar Hill, Jay Kelly Martin and wife, Barbara of Huntsville and Tommy Martin and wife, Jeanette of Cedar Hill; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and friends; including dear friend and caregiver, Luberta Perry of Huntsville.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2011, in the chapel of Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Midlothian Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. Friday, prior to the service.
