Thomas Odelle “Tubby” Tennery passed away Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, in Ennis. Thomas was born Nov. 9, 1917, in Denton, Texas, to Thomas I. and Tishey L. Upchurch Tennery. He was employed as a fabric cutter at Flex Steel Furniture for many years. He was a longtime member of Farley Street Baptist Church and was a deacon there for 54 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Thomas is survived by his son, Jimmy L. Tennery and wife, Annie, of Waxahachie; daughters, Gwyn L. Arnold and husband, Douglas, and Tempye F. Kinnart and husband, Bob, all of Waxahachie. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, LaVoyce Tennery, in 2008.
A visitation for family and friends was held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010, at Wayne Boze Funeral Home. A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010, at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel with Brother Richard Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Burial Park in Waxahachie.
The family requests that donations be made to Farley Street Baptist Church Building Fund.
