United States Army Specialist Thomas Layton Hilbert, 20, of Venus, was killed in action completing a mission in Mosul, Iraq.

He went to be with our Lord and Savior on Sept. 7, 2007.

He is preceded in death by his uncle, Gary James of Venus. He is survived by his parents, Thomas and Theresa Hilbert of Venus; sisters, Billie Jo Alexander (husband Alex) of Baton Rouge, La, and Jennie Jones of Pascagoula, Miss; nieces, Lauren Alexander and Kaitlin Alexander, and nephews, Jacob Jones and William Alexander.

He will be missed by a host of comrades-in-arms, family, friends and his community.
