Roy L. Price Jr., 70, passed away at his home in Ennis with his wife by his side Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011.
Roy was born in Ennis on Sept. 14, 1940, to Roy Leon and Margarette (Kirby) Price Sr. He grew up in Ennis and graduated from Ennis High School in 1959. His college career included classes at Navarro College, Texas A&M, Howard Payne University and SMU. On May 15, 1964, he married Sara Hunter and they made their home in Ennis. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army from 1966 until 1968 in Panama as a medic.
He worked for more than 35 years for Southern Pacific Railroad and then Union Pacific Railroad as a brakeman and conductor. He was a member of the Baptist Church, United Transportation Union and the American Legion Post No. 361. His pride and joy were his children and his grandchildren, and he was looking forward to adding a new grandchild later this year.
He is survived by his wife, Sara Price; two sons, Dr. Ryan Price and his wife, Heather, and Bart Price and his wife, Heather; three grandchildren, Grant, Sydney and Brady; and one sister, Dorothy Wilhoite and her husband, Leslie. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, 2011, at J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.
