Robert Earl Cox, 66, of Midlothian passed away Aug. 26, 2011.

He was born Nov. 25, 1944, in Big Spring, Texas, to Tinsley Earl and Sybil Florene Cox.

He lived in Grand Prairie, Texas, where after high school he joined the U.S. Navy and served his country in places from Jacksonville, Fla., to Iceland.

He was a faithful employee of Gerdau Steel, formerly Chaparral Steel, for the last 36 years. 

He attended Stagecoach Cowboy Church of Waxahachie. 

He is survived by his wife, Donna Kay (Hanson) Cox of Midlothian; daughter, Lisa Cox Spence, of Midlothian and Chad Spence, of Grandview; daughter, April Renee Barrett of Irving; son, Joe David Cox and wife, Renee, of Mabank, Texas;  Bobby Cox and wife, Christina, of Midlothian; grandchildren, Garrett Spence, Ty Spence, Callie Jo Cox, Brady Cox, Tinsley Cox, Denni Cox and Rider Cox; and countless other family, friends and co-workers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tinsley Earl and Sybil Florene Cox.

A visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 29, at Midlothian Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, at Ellis County Cowboy Church in Waxahachie with interment in Midlothian Cemetery.
