Raymond Delle  was born June 12, 1916, in New Haven, Conn., and passed away March 18, 2011 in Dallas,

Texas. He attended schools in Connecticut and New York and, after graduation, was employed by the New York Stock Exchange, where he furthered his education in finance. Ray served in the U.S. Army during World War II as an MP, was called to activation with the 84th Division, and later assigned to the Adjutant General’s office as messenger for the 10th Army (in Okinawa), carrying top secret communications.

Following the war, Ray returned home and found employment with a machinery company. After 25 years, he co-founded CIA Machinery Inc. in Lancaster. In 2000, he sold the company to key employees who helped build it, then retired to Waxahachie. He loved trains, lighthouses and outdoor challenges such as mountain climbing and river rafting. He believed “You’re never too old to have a happy childhood.”

Raymond leaves behind his wife of 30 years, Kate; children, Raye Louise Delle of Lancaster, Texas, Mary Linda (Jerry) Stroope of Pearland, Texas, Richard Delle of Euless, Texas, Floyd (Doris) Delle of Garland, Texas, Kathy (Chuck) Magers of Waxahachie; grandchildren, Lauren Stroope of Pearland, Texas, O.T. Stroope, of Pearland, Texas, Sandy (Carl) Mayabb of Garland, Texas, Kyle (Denise) Delle of Garland, Texas, Angie (Kevin) Johnston of Mansfield, Texas, Dana (Joel) McDowell of Waxahachie; and numerous great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife of 30 years, Mary Eloise; sister, Helen; and brothers, Raymond and Ernest.

Ray’s family and friends will celebrate his life from 6-8 p.m. Monday, March 21, 2011, at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave. in Dallas. Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at Restland Memorial Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Organization, American Heart Association or by doing a kindness for others.
