Pauline Rangel Salazar, 91, of Waxahachie, passed away Monday, Feb. 23, 2009, in Waxahachie. She was born to the late Genaro S. and Eusaquia Ortiz Rangel on Jan. 29, 1918, in San Antonio.

Pauline loved flowers and gardening. She enjoyed spending time with her family and being around the one’s she loved. She was drawn to children and children were drawn to her. All the children called her Grandma and she touched the hearts of everyone she met and knew. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waxahachie and enjoyed her church family. Pauline loved the Lord and enjoyed sharing that with everyone.  She will be missed by so many who loved her dearly.

She is survived by her sons, John Salazar and his wife, Janet of Corpus Christi, Roy Salazar and his wife, Francis of Corpus Christi; her beloved grandchildren, Jimmy Salazar and Amy of Flower Mound, Steve Salazar, and Pam of Benton, Ark., Andy Salazar and Sarah of Corpus Christi, Joey Salazar of Irving, Quinton Salazar of Mesquite, Jeanette Young and Mike of Waxahachie; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Salazar.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27, 2009, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Paul Nguyen serving as celebrant. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Irving.

Visitation for family and friends will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009, at Wayne Boze Funeral Home with a rosary prayer service beginning at 7 p.m.
