Patricia Carpenter, 58, of Waxahachie passed away Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011, at Baylor University Medical Center. She was born May 19, 1953, in Ennis to James Lyndon and Dorothy Lee Schroeder Witherspoon. Patricia was a graduate of Ferris High School and attended East Texas State University, where she earned a bachelorís degree. She married Roy David Carpenter on June 7, 1975, in Bristol. Patricia loved to read, to teach and loved her students. Education was very important to her. She worked for Honey Grove ISD for four years and retired from Midlothian ISD after working for 27 years. Patricia was devoted to her family and loved to laugh. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and she will be missed by many.

Survivors include her loving husband of 36 years, David; two sons, Benjamin Carpenter and his wife, Jennifer, and Clifford Carpenter and his wife, Christina, both of Mansfield; a grandaughter, Zoey Carpenter; a sister, Diane Gorman and her husband, Kenneth, of Bardwell; two brothers, Keith Witherspoon and his wife, Nancy, of Bristol and Craig Witherspoon and his wife, Linda, of Longview; her mother, Dorothy Witherspoon of Ennis; an uncle, Harold Witherspoon of Bristol; an aunt, Mary Pollan and her husband, Ronnie, of Ennis; numerous nieces; and nephews.†

She was preceded in death by her father, James.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19, 2011, at Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011, at Brown Street Church of Christ with Dean Kilmer and Walter Buchanan officiating.† Interment will follow at Midlothian Cemetery.

Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Brown Street Church of Christ Thursday meals.
