Arval  Leasure  Lash

April 5, 1933 –

August 11, 2013

Arval “Arv” Leasure Lash, 80, went to be with his Lord on Aug. 11, 2013, while vacationing in Pine Top, Ariz.  Arv was born in Swickley Township, Westmoreland County, Pa., to Daniel Ralph and Laura Belle Lash. He moved with his parents and two sisters to Tucson, Ariz., at the age of 14. After his graduation from Tucson High School, he joined the U.S. Navy where he became a catapult operator on an airplane carrier, the Shangri-La CV-38. He proudly served his country in the Navy from 1951-1956. He returned to Tucson where he received his BA in business from the University of Arizona.

During his working years, Arv was employed by several different industries, always in the field of sales.  Because of his outgoing personality and his sincere, caring attitude, he enjoyed a very successful career, traveling all over the western United States. One of his positions brought him to Waxahachie, where he lived 30-plus years. His last position was as an account manager with Chicago Title and Trust.

Although his chosen profession was sales, his passion in life was people, strangers and friends alike, with whom he readily shared his faith in God. There were no real strangers to him — just friends he had yet to meet in airports, shopping malls and the workplace — always prepared for his “divine appointments.”    Many of his colleagues became life-long friends.

Arv is survived by his wife, Marilynn T. Lash; his daughter, Linda McMullen, Phoenix, Ariz.; his stepson, David Thornhill, Waxahachie; his sisters, Loma Sue Journey (John), Richardson, Texas; and Barbara Ann Lunsford, Tucson, Ariz. He is also survived by grandchildren, Ryan McMullen (Lindsey) and Megan Madoyi (Dave) Phoenix, Ariz.; Amy Comerford (Simon), Dallas, Texas; Cody Hoggard and Jason Hoggard, Waxahachie; Austin Louque, Abilene, Texas; and Mackenzie Thornhill, Hillsboro, Texas; and sisters-in-law Patsy Powell (Dub), Mobile, Ala.; and Daphne Smith (Gene), Lafayette, La. Other survivors include six great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Arv was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Daniel Paul Lash; his stepson, Michael Thornhill; and his brother-in-law, Jay Lunsford.

Arv lived his life as a servant for his Lord, a constant encourager and a prayer warrior for all in need. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. A celebration of his life service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at First Baptist Church, Waxahachie. In lieu of flowers, nothing would please Arv more than to know any acknowledgment of his passing would be made to Turning Point, Dr. David Jeremiah, P. O. Box 3838, San Diego, CA 92163.
