Minnie Sawyers Hayton, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, went to be with our Lord and Savior on May 6, 2011. Minnie was born Dec. 8, 1914, in Richlands, Va., to Samuel D. and Rosa Coleman Sawyers, both of Tazewell County, Va.  

She spent most of her life in Richlands and Virginia Beach before moving to Texas in 1992. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Hayton; an infant son, John Robert Hayton; son, Samuel Louis Hayton; brothers, Carl, Boyden and Marvin Sawyers; and sisters, Kathryn (Kate) Strouth, and Ethel Joyce, all of Richlands, Va. 

She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Hayton McLaughlin of Grand Prairie and Richlands; daughter-in-law, Patricia Hayton, of Grand Prairie; granddaughters, Elizabeth H. Speed and her husband, Randy, of Waxahachie, and Kathryn H. Wiggs and her husband, Jay, of Grand Prairie; six great-grandchildren, Joshua H. Speed, Christopher R. Speed, Madeline C. Speed, Meagan A. Speed, Carson M. Wiggs and Jordan T. Wiggs; and several nieces and nephews.

Minnie was employed by F.H. Hill Corporation, in Richlands, for 21 years.  She was a member of First Baptist Church of Waxahachie and Richlands Presbyterian Church.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2011, at Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Chapel in Waxahachie with Jerry Lemon officiating.

She loved her family dearly and devoted her life to them.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Richlands Presbyterian Church or First Baptist Church of Waxahachie.
