Mary Lenora Bristol McVey was born May 2, 1924, and passed away March 27, 2011.
She is survived by her son, Robert “Al” McVey; brother, Paul Bristol (Liz); granddaughters, Katie Usrey (Bryan) and Julie Whitley (Ian); great granddaughter, Jordyn Usrey; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter ,Alice McVey; parents, the Rev. Robert and Goldie Bristol; sister, Lois Motherspaw; and brothers, Albert Bristol and the Rev. Ray Bristol.
She was a dedicated elementary school teacher for 28 years, serving in the Wilmer Hutchins, Marfa and Lancaster school districts. She was an active member of The Dallas Area Daughters of Caledonia, a charter member of the Retired Teachers Association of South Dallas County, and a long time member of the First Christian Church. She enjoyed good books, sewing outfits for her grandchildren, world-wide traveling, the Texas Hill Country, researching her family’s heritage and reading her Bible daily. Most of all, she loved to root for the TCU Horned Frogs.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2011, in the chapel of the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Wheatland Cemetery.
