Marian Jeanette “Janie” Hamm of Ferris, Texas, was born Jan. 8,1934, in Dallas and passed away peacefully after several years of poor health, Sept. 19, 2011, at Baylor Medical Center at Waxahachie.

She married Herman C. Hamm on June 3, 1949, and together they farmed the land raising predominately cotton and corn, and their biggest joy was raising their four children.

Mrs. Hamm is survived by her children: Karen Maxwell and husband, Ron, of Waxahachie, Linda C. Frazier of Red Oak, Debbie Dlabaj and husband, Larry, of Bardwell and Kevin Hamm and wife, Teresa, of Ferris,  eight grandchildren: David Maxwell, Jennifer Ortega, Russell Frazier, Micha Campo, Brandi Dlabaj, Lisa Dlabaj, Niki Jackson and Scarlett Hamm; 14 great-grandchildren; and one brother, C.W. Miller Sr. of Rockett.

Mrs. Hamm was preceded in death by her spouse of 49 years, Herman; her parents, Charles Wesley and Myrtle Miller; her son-in-law, Stephen R. Frazier; sister, Alene Ward; brothers: Jerry Miller, Thomas Miller and John Miller.

A visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011, at Wayne Boze Funeral Home, 1826 W. U.S. Highway 287 Business in Waxahachie,

The celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011, with her nephew the Rev. Steve Hamm officiating at First Baptist Church, 304 W. 5th St. in Ferris.

Pallbearers will be Mrs. Hamm’s grandsons: David Maxwell and Russell Frazier; and great-grandsons: Jordan Valdez, Joshua Valdez, Jonathan Valdez and Hayden Dodson. Honorary pallbearers are Jaiden Jackson, Stephen Frazier and Dyllon Dlabaj.
