Mable Ernestine Tinsley Derden, 87, of Waxahachie passed away Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011.

Ernestine was born in Italy, Texas, on Jan. 14, 1924, to Howard and Marie (Briles) Tinsley.

She graduated from Italy High School in 1941. She married J.T. Derden in 1942 and after his return from World War II they began a devoted life farming and ranching in the Five Points community.

Ernestine was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She shared her love of baking with friends and family and if you ever received a chocolate pie or pound cake – then you must have been pretty special!

Left to cherish her memory are son, Bill Derden and wife, Bertha; daughter, Glenda Rutherford and husband, Scotty; grandchildren, Kathy Watson and husband, Glenn, Joe Bill Derden and wife, Tisha, Evan Ward and husband John, Maribeth Bates and husband, Russell, and 13 “favorite” great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Dorothy Crumpton;  infant brother, Sonny Tinsley; beloved husband of over 43 years, J.T. Derden, and by her special grandson, Gordon Rutherford.

The family will receive friends from 6 -8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, 2011, at Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, in the chapel of Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home with Brother Richard Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Forreston Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Glenn Watson, Joe Bill Derden, Russell Bates, John Ward, Darren Ward and Brent Weast. Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Weast, Jerry Weast, Gary Derden, Lynn Derden, Murray Derden and Wayne Crumpton.
