Lou Willie Jones Hobbs went home to be with the Lord on Aug. 29, 2007, in Corpus Christi, Texas.

She was born March 29, 1918, in Seadrift, Texas, to J.B. (Ben) Jones and Sarah E. Fausett. She was reared in Sardis (Ellis County), and graduated from Waxahachie High School in 1935. She married John Hobbs in Dallas, on Nov. 26, 1937, and was an Avon manager for more than 30 years. Mrs. Hobbs was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Corpus Christi.

She is survived by a daughter, Brenda Powell, and her husband, Henry, of Corpus Christi, Texas; sisters, Laura McGinn of Glastonbury, Conn., and Irma Mauldin (J.W.) of Waxahachie; brother, Eugene Jones (Lillie) of Gun Barrel City; grandchildren, Renee Martin and husband of Houston, and Laura Hernandez and husband, of Houston; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Gary Hobbs; sisters, Eula Marshall and Theresa Samford; and brothers, James Berkely Jones and Wilburn Jones.

Visitation was from noon to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, at Cage Mills Funeral Home in Corpus Christi, Texas, with graveside services at 2 p.m., at Seaside Memorial Park in Corpus Christi, Texas.
