Joseph Carmickle Rawlins, 56, died at Community Hospice of Texas in Burleson on Sept. 19, 2011, after an eight-month battle with cancer. Born on May 17, 1955, in Waxahachie to John David Rawlins Sr. and Bobbie Jo Davidson, he grew up in Hillsboro, Texas. On Dec. 15, 1973, he married the love of his life, Julia Soto. He started his career in 1974 at Gerdau Steel working as a locomotive and crane operator until his illness. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, John David and Bobbie; sister,  Sylvia Jean; and granddaughter, Olivia Lewis. 

He is survived by his wife, Julia; children, Renee Webb and husband, Scot, Martie Rawlins, Eli Rawlins and wife, Brandi, and Matthew Rawlins and wife, Alex; grandchildren, Joshua and Cody Webb, Seth Rawlins, Ethan Webb, Spencer, Sebastian, Samuel and Salvador Lewis, Mia Webb and Rinley Rawlins; brother, John David Rawlins Jr.; and sisters, Cynthia Ann Rawlins, Debbie Carrilo and husband, Ray, and Geraldine Yocham and husband, Bo. 

“Loco” Joe Rawlins was a charter member of the Gryphon’s Motorcycle Club established in 1988. Joe enjoyed riding his Harley and spending time with his family and friends. He had a loving and tender heart and touched many people throughout his life. Joe was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Thanks to our many friends and family for all their prayers and support. 

A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, and services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, 2011, at Midlothian Funeral Home with burial at Mt. Zion Cemetery
