Johnnie Lucille Crouch Newton, 62, beloved mother, sister, aunt and friend of Irving, Texas, left this world to be with her heavenly Father on Saturday, May 21, 2011, after a short illness.

Johnnie was born in Waxahachie on June 9, 1948, to John R. and Eula Lucille Oden Crouch. She joined Water Street Baptist Church as a young girl. Johnnie has made her home in California as well as Texas. She was married to Clyde Newton and employed by VIP Inc. of Grand Prairie for many years prior to her retirement.

Johnnie loved traveling and talking to and spending time with her family and friends.

Johnnie is survived by her daughter, Cindy Newton of Springdale, Ark.; and son, Roy Newton of Virginia Beach, Va.; grandchildren: Clyde Raymond (Petey) Newton of Irving, Vanessa and Aundie Newton of San Diego, Calif., and Kasey and Eric Pinzon, of Virginia Beach, Va.; sisters, Joyce Crouch Wilkerson of Ennis, Ruth Crouch Hill and husband, Jim, of Arlington, Alecia Crouch Gladney of Midlothian and Kay Crouch Allen and husband, Cornelius, of Grand Prairie; brother-in-law, Charles Conner of Lufkin; aunts and uncles: Mary Turner of Waxahachie, Betty Crouch of Chandler, and George Ernest and Sue Oden of Golinda; nieces and nephews who loved her dearly: Joyce Marie Wilkerson and Veronica Mazuca of San Marcos, Jackie and Fred Nicholson of Ennis, Janet and Dennis Duckworth of Ennis, Vernon Hill and Leslie Baldwin of Fort Worth, Sheila Gabrielson and Chuck Newgent of Fort Worth, Shawna and Ed Hare of Oregon and David Conner of Great Falls, Mont., Tammy Gladney of Yantis, Gerald Gladney Jr. of Rendon, and Kimberly Gladney of Midlothian; numerous great- and great-great-nieces and nephews; and her adopted family: the Armando Jimenez Ayala family.

Johnnie is preceded in death by her daughter, Alecia Kaye Newton; her parents, Johnny and Lucille Crouch; sisters, Faye Conner and Etta Crouch; grandparents; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Donations in Johnnie’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.

A private memorial and interment will be held at a later date.
