John D. Ferguson passed away Jan. 18, 2009. He was born Feb. 4, 1925, in Shreveport, La., to John Gordon and Fannie Mae (Gentry) Ferguson.
He was raised in Lubbock and then Waxahachie, graduating from Waxahachie High School in 1942. He immediately enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he received the Victory Medal WWII, the American Area – honorable medal and good conduct medal. He was discharged in 1946. In 1953, John D. became the first All State Insurance agent in Waxahachie.
John D. married Lucy Moreno on June 7, 1969. He also served on the city council from 1962-1968 and was a long-time member and past president of the Optimist Club.
He survived by his wife, Lucy; sons, Michael D. Ferguson and John Patrick Ferguson, all of Waxahachie; and one granddaughter, Candice Nicole Ferguson.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday with Rosary at 7 p.m. at Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan., 23, 2009, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Waxahachie, Texas.
Interment will be in Waxahachie City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mike Benavides, David Czarnecki, Joe Chagnon, Edward Alvarado, Tommy Jureko and Mike Grassmuck.
