The Rev. James S. Waller, 77, went to be with the Lord on Saturday morning, Aug. 18, 2007.
He was born April 14, 1930, in East Texas to Mary and James Waller. James had lived in Ellis County for the past 30 years. He received his masterís of business administration degree from Southern Methodist University.
James served as pastor of First Assembly of God in Maypearl for 28 years, served as business manager at Southwestern Assemblies of God University and was a professor at SAGU and Navarro College. He also served the city of Maypearl as mayor and city councilman.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Patsy Waller; daughter, Debra Smith, and husband, Lynn, of Kemp, Texas; sons, Jim Waller and wife, Cathy, of McKinney, Texas, David Waller and wife, Cindy, of Bynum, Texas, Phil Waller of Maypearl, Texas; brother, John Bruce Waller of Tulsa, Okla.; seven grandchildren, Paul Smith, Stephanie Waller, Jonathan Waller, Rachel Smith, Timothy Waller, Katie Waller and Sharolyn Waller.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20, 2007, at Waxahachie Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. at University Assembly of God Church with interment following at Maypearl Cemetery.
