James Russell Williams, 67, of Waxahachie passed Jan. 28, 2011. He was born Feb. 25, 1943.

He is survived by his daughter, Carla Williams; grandchildren, Paislee Echols, Mya Williams and Jace Williams; sisters, Belinda Davis (Lee) of Desoto, and Joann Williams of Corpus Christi; brothers, Willard Williams of Waxahachie, Lynn Davis (Anita) of Waxahachie, Semmie Williams (Vickie) of Dallas, Bobby Williams (Deborah) of Dallas, Bernard Williams (Debra) of Dallas, Joe Williams Jr. (Loretta) of Dallas and Warren Miller (Patricia) of Waxahachie; aunt, Geraldine Moody of Denver, Colo., Van Williams of Waxahachie, stepmother, Mrs. S.E. Williams of Dallas, loyal cousins, Tommy Lloyd of El Paso, Billy Lacy of DeSoto, Glenn Lacy of Red Oak; sister-in-law, Ocie Hill (John) of Dallas, and a host of nephews, nieces and friends; and a special friend, Bertha Smith.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Joyce Bowie Williams; mother, Johnnie Davis; father, Joe Williams; stepfather, Clifton Davis;  and sister, Nina Sanford.

Williams graduated from Oaklawn and Turner High School, class of 1961. He attended Prairie View A&M University and was in the U.S. Army.

A viewing will be held from noon-6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011, followed by a wake service from 7-8 p.m. in the Edgar Thomas Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, at Joshua Chapel AME Church, 110 Aikens St. Interment will be in DFW National Cemetery.
