Glynn Roy Cleveland,76, passed away at his residence Monday morning. He was born in Palmer to Garland and Edith (Whitlock) Cleveland. He graduated from Palmer High School and attended Baylor University at Waco. Glynn served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1959. He married Virginia Proffitt on July 14, 1956, in Waxahachie. Glynn was a lumber salesman for Lane Stanton Lumber Company of California for 23 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of New Beginnings Bible Church of Ferris. Glynn enjoyed carpentry, making furniture, as a hobby. He loved the lord, helping people and loving his family.
Glynn is survived by his wife of 54 years, Virginia of Waxahachie; two daughters, Deborah White and husband, Steve, Carol Ann Hewson and husband, Kim Hewson; a son, Brian Cleveland and wife, Kristen, all of Waxahachie; and special cousin, Paula Harper of Fort Worth. He is also survived by nine grandchildren: Katie, Travis, Kaitlyn, Joy, Maddison, Mackenzie, Morgan, Macie and Angelina; one great-grandson, Jackson Glynn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Garland and Edith Cleveland; infant son, David Glynn Cleveland; and two brothers, Lynn and Ronnie.
The family received friends and relatives from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, at Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
The celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2011, at New Beginnings Bible Church in Ferris with Pastor Bobby Adams officiating. Interment will follow at Palmer Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be James Fields, Jerry Wester, Bill Glendening, Harlan Baldridge, Dan Horton and James Wilson.
Honorary pallbearers are Kenny Caldwell, James Wester, Bailey Shafer and Kenneth Burns.
The family requests that donations be made to New Beginnings Bible Church, Building Fund, P.O. Box 558 Ferris, TX or to memorials of your choice.
