Gloria Jean Thomas, 67, went to be with her heavenly Father on Jan. 21, 2009. She was born Jan. 21, 1942, in Sioux City, Iowa, and moved to Arlington in 1955. Married to Bobby Thomas for almost 50 years, she worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone and AT&T until retiring after 27 years. She and Bobby made their home in Navarro Mills until she passed away.
Her church home was Navarro Mills Baptist Church of Navarro Mills. She really loved to attend when she was able. Gloria was a loving wife, grandmother, great-grandmother to all of her children and friends.
A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Corley Funeral Home, 418 N. 13th St., in Corsicana. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Navarro Mills Baptist Church with the Rev. Ricky L. Woodall officiating. Pallbearers will be Chriss Brooks, Joe Brewing, John Collier, Billy Jordon Jr., Dale Roverson and Steven Tucker. Honorary pallbearers will be Junior Crenshaw, Jachie Thomas, Carlos Thomas, Tom Sawer, Terry Adams and Clark Putman. Interment will follow at Dresden Cemetery in Dresden.
Gloria is survived by her husband, Bobby G. Thomas; daughter, Cathy Dianne Lively and her husband, Boyd of Purdon; son, Michael Wayne Thomas and his wife, Susan of Arlington; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George F. Potter, and brother, Charles Franklin Potter.
