Gerald Baker Talkington, 74, passed away March 12, 2011, in a Fort Worth hospital. He was born Feb. 11, 1937, in Dallas, the son of Curtis Lavell and Gladys Maurine Baker Talkington. He married Patricia Dishman on May 1, 1976, in Ferris. He was a veteran of the Texas National Guard 49th Armory Division. He owned and operated the City Pride Car Wash for 25 years. He was a Baptist. He was a past mayor of Ferris, was on the Ferris City Council† and was a past president of the Ferris Chamber of Commerce.

He was a member of the Waxahachie Historical Board, the Ellis County Historical Board, the Greater Dallas South Association and the Palo Pinto Historic Foundation. He was a charter member of the North Texas Region Classic Car Club, and a charter member of the Packardís North Texas Car Club. He was a founding member of the Brazos Foundation. He was a lover of old cars and was an avid reader.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at Ferris Memorial Park North Cemetery in Ferris. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Pat Talkington of Mineral Wells; two nieces and numerous cousins.
