George Arlon Choate was born on Nov. 3, 1923, to Rufus Roscoe and Linnie Mae Irby Choate in Mount Vernon, Texas. He passed away March 4, 2011, in Dallas, Texas. George served in the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Army in World War II and Korea. 

He was preceded in death by two wonderful wives and mothers to his children (Ada Dean and Florene); his parents; son-in-law, Chester Sayles and Keith Arlon Choate. 

George is survived by his children, Pam Sayles, Pat and Larry Cotham, Jim and Linda Nebhut, Sissy Rhodes, Kay and Sam Long and Kim and Tim Stevens; sister, Allene Rogers; 16 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.

He loved his kids and his grandkids. He was our hero. He was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. 

A visitation was held from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2011, and services were held at 9 a.m. Monday, March 7, 2011, at Midlothian Funeral Home. Burial was at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Colonial Gardens Cemetery in Marshall, Texas.
