Essie Jones, 90, of Nacogdoches passed away Friday, Feb. 18, 2011, in Waxahachie. She was born January 16, 1921 in Marshall County, Tenn. to Charles Huston and Claudia (Sanders) McCoy. Essie was a loving mother and grandmother. She had been a member of Pleasant Hill Church of God for many years. She loved to knit and crochet. She worked alongside her husband for 37 years at Ernie’s Sewing Machine Sales and Services.

Survivors include one son, Everett Wayne Jones of Nacogdoches; two grandchildren, Kevin Jones and Erica Raleigh; two great-grandchildren, Tyler Jones and Gracyn Raleigh; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernie C. Jones; son, Huston Jones; and sister, Mary Hitchcock.

A visitation with the family will be held from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, at Laird Funeral Home, 2116 South St. in Nacogdoches.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, at Sunset Memorial Park with Dr. James Laughlin and Charles Rowell officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
