Our beloved sister and friend joined her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, July 4, 2007. Emily was born to Guy Daniel York and Elva Hitt York on April 29, 1942, in Boonesville, Ark.
Emily retired from Elgin B. Robertson, Inc. on May 1, 2007, just after turning 65. She loved her friends and co-workers. She also retired from the Texas Baptist Home for Children in Waxahachie after 23 years. She felt that she was called by God to serve in this ministry.
She was a member of Farley Street Baptist Church and later became a member of Frontier Cowboy Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Jimmie Faye Norwood; two brothers, Marvin York and Chalmos York; nephew, Tommy Wayne Norwood; great nephew, Joseph Beverly.
Emily is survived by her sisters, Jane Nolen and husband Ron of Waxahachie, Evelyn Peden and husband Larry of Henrietta, Texas, and Lana York of Dallas; brother, Joe York of Golden, Colo.; sister in law, Birdie York of Frisco, Texas.
Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 6 at Byrum Funeral Home, 425 N. Dallas Ave., Lancaster.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 7, 2007, at the Frontier Cowboy Church on South U.S. Highway 77 in Waxahachie. Private interment will follow in Edgewood Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Farley Street Baptist Church, Frontier Cowboy Church, Texas Fellowship of Cowboy Churches Resource Center or Texas Baptist Home for Children.
