Doyle McDonald was born Aug. 6, 1938, in Comanche, Texas, to Floyd Edgar and Lela May Harris McDonald and went to be with his Savior Jesus Christ on Aug. 16, 2011, at his home.

He moved to Midlothian when he was 8 years old. Doyle graduated from Midlothian High School in 1956 where he played football for the Panthers, and retired from LTV in 1996 after 40 years of employment.

Doyle was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Dale and Gayle McDonald; brother, Rex McDonald; and sisters, Ala Mae Lawson, Pauline McDonald and Geraldine Young.

Doyle is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Lavonia McDonald; grandson, Joshua McDonald; sister, Sue Everett; brother, James McDonald and wife, Lois; sister-in-law, Leta Burnett; and brother-in-law, Herman Beck and wife, Jeanette.

He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He has many friends and classmates too numerous to list. Doyle was loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A visitation was held from 2-4 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, at Midlothian Funeral Home with burial in Midlothian Cemetery. Pastor Larry Poole will officiate.
