Donna Jean (Stevens) Miller, 63, of Venus, Texas, died at home Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011, following a short but courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loved ones.

Mrs. Miller was born Oct. 27, 1947, in Meridian, Texas, to Thomas Laval and Virginia Odessa (Locker) Stevens. She lived most of her life in and around the Dallas area. She worked for many years as a bartender, including 15 years at the Crystal Chandelier in Lancaster. At the time of her death she was employed by Wal-Mart in Midlothian, in the bakery and deli departments. Donna married the love of her life, Gerald Ray Miller, July 4, 2008. She was well known for her gardening, flower arranging, cake decorating and interior design, but her all-time favorite pastime was going to Shreveport with her sister.

Family visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011, in the J.E. Keever Funeral Home, 200 W. Jefferson in Palmer, Texas.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, 2011, in the Keever Funeral Home Palmer Chapel. The Rev. Eddy Mayfield will officiate. Donna will be laid to rest by her daughter in the Palmer Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Fred and Virginia Littrell, both in 1989; her biological father, Thomas Laval Stevens in 1967; one grandson, Richard Mason Townley in 1998; one daughter, Melody LaNell (Townley) Winters in 2008; and her husband of six months, Gerald Ray Miller in 2009.

She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Tammy and Dino Reyna of Walnut Springs and Amy Johnson of Greenville; one son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Saundra Townley of Palmer; six grandsons and one grandson-in-law, Dakota Zarate, Cuyler Winters, Justin Townley, Tate Townley, Adrian Evans, Michael Reyna and Aaron McDonald; two granddaughters and one granddaughter-in-law, Beth McDonald, Donna Marie Reyna and Robyn Reyna; two great-granddaughters, Katherine McDonald and Trinity Reyna; three great-grandsons, Danny McDonald and Trintin and Tristin Reyna; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Theta Ann Wilkinson of Holiday, Fla., Betty and Ricky Bell of Venus and Debbie and Everett Powell of Cheyenne, Wyo.; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Dakota Zarate, Justin Townley, Tate Townley and Michael Reyna; nephews, Del Hofmann, Mike New and Doug New, and great-nephew, Dalton Hofmann.

Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons, Cuyler Winters and Adrian Evans; and granddaughter, Donna Marie Reyna.
