Don Mayfield, 68, of Waxahachie, passed away Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, at Methodist Dallas Medical Center.

He was born June 23, 1940, in Grandview, Texas, to Homer and Faye Mayfield. He married Sue Beasley on June 17, 1964, in Waxahachie. Don was an engineering specialist for the Department of Transportation for more than 40 years.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Mayfield of Waxahachie; daughter, Sonya Alexander and her husband, Todd, of Forreston; son, Monty Mayfield and his wife, Sheri, of Arlington; three grandchildren, Caroline, Ellie, and Ross Alexander; sister, Sue Ann Gardner and her husband, Bobby, of Itasca; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, and his infant son, Stance Mayfield.

After years of suffering pain following a stroke, Don is finally resting in peace.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, at Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home. 

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009, in the chapel of Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Burial Park in Waxahachie.
