Dolly Jean (Battles) Morris, 46, of Waco passed away Sunday, May 27, 2007.

She was born Nov. 26, 1960, in Waco.

Dolly’s work in life was to try to help and protect veterans and to make sure they are taken care of. She rode with the American Legion Riders motorcycle group and is remembered as vivacious, lively and very outgoing and one who never met a stranger. She was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars auxiliaries.

She was preceded in death by her father, Alford (Jack) Battle.

She is survived by her husband, Billy Morris; three children, Eddie, Chris and Anna; her mother, Kathryn Battle of Hewitt; four sisters, Nancy Nolan of Hurst, Diane Stokes of Hewitt, Evelyn Rickett of Waco and Anna David of Waxahachie; one brother, Jack Battle of Hewitt.

Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 1, at Bellmead Funeral Home, 809 LaClede, Waco.

Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 2, 2007, at Ridin’ High Cowboy Church, 12640 Rock Creek Road, Waco, with Pastor Mark Griffin officiating.

Pallbearers will be Larry J. David, Garrett David, Michael Hardin, Michael Nolan, Matthew Nolan and Sean McCoy. Honorary pallbearers will be the American Legion Riders motorcycle group.

Arrangements are with Bellmead Funeral Home.
