Carol Ann Hollabaugh Barksdale, loving wife, mother and nana passed away May 8, 2011, at Baylor Medical Center at Waxahachie, surrounded by her loved ones, following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born Jan. 20, 1944, in Pine Bluff, Ark., to Clen Weeding and Tennie Evelyn Wells Hollabaugh. She grew up in Midlothian, graduating from Midlothian High School in 1961. She married Edward Ray Barksdale at Midlothian Church of Christ in Midlothian on April 12, 1963. They settled into Midlothian, where they began their 48-year journey of life, love and family together.
She worked as an office manager for Jamieson Manufacturing for 20 years, retiring in 1999.
She was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Dwaine Barksdale, and her parents, Clen and Tennie Hollabaugh.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Edward Ray Barksdale; daughters, Julie Ann Barksdale Rogers and her husband, Sherman, of Bloomington, Ind., and Cheryl Kay Barksdale Grable and her husband, Kirk, of Willow Park, Texas; granddaughters Emily Ann and Abigail Elizabeth Rogers; grandson, Justin Thomas Rogers all of Bloomington, Ind.; her sister, Judy Hollabaugh Jordan and her husband, Roy, of Midlothian; brother William Hollabaugh and his wife, Gilba, of Midlothian; many nephews and nieces; and especially her dog, Minnie.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and wife. She also leaves behind a legacy of being very caring and always putting others first. Carol was a long-time member of Midlothian Church of Christ. She will be missed by her family and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at Church of Church in Midlothian. Family visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2011, at Midlothian Funeral Home.
