Billye McCormack Duncan, 88, died after a brief illness at Baylor Medical Center at Waxahachie on Thursday, Aug. 4, 2011.
Billye was born Dec. 19, 1922, in Avalon, Texas, to John Thomas and Florence Jessie (Wiles) King. She grew up in Avalon and graduated from Avalon High School in 1939. In 1990, she married William (Bill) Duncan.
She worked for Target for more than 25 years in inventory control. She was a member of the Bardwell Church of Christ.
She is survived by her children, Bill and Roma McCormack of Mustang, Okla., Carol and Mac McDonald of Santa Fe, N.M. and Chuck and Nancy McCormack of Waxahachie; six grandchildren, Leslie Christensen, Ian McDonald, Shannon Neese, Alison Rowe, Callie Hollenshead and Katherine McCormack; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband and the father of her children, Robert Samuel McCormack; her second husband, Bill Duncan; six brothers, John, Wayne, Robert, Jack, James and Donald King.
A visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011, at the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. A celebration of her life will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 8, 2011, in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel with John L. Sullivan officiating. Interment will follow at Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
