Bill Luverne Lacy was born in Teague,on Jan. 19, 1924 to the late Handy and Estella Lacy.
Lacy died Saturday, July 14, 2007.
He graduated from Oaklawn High School in 1943. Bill served in the U.S. Navy in 1946. Bill was employed at Waxahachie Country Club as a waiter.
He was a very active member of Joshua Chapel AME Church where he served in many capacities.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Genthia Lacy; sons Billy (Lola), Glen, Jerry and Bernard Lacy; daughters, Vera Crayton, Melba Lacy, Michelle Smith, Genthia Reese, Pauline Conner and Lanae Walton; two sisters, Geraldine Moody and Louella Sims; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will begin after 2 p.m. Sunday, July 22 in the Allene Thomas Retirement Suite I.
The wake will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Edgar Thomas Memorial Chapel.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Joshua Chapel AME Church.
