Mrs. Brown, 79, passed early Tuesday morning Sept. 18, 2007 at Methodist Central Hospital in Dallas. Betty Lou was born in Slick, Okla., to William And Willie (Glenn) Hix on March 6, 1928.
She was a 1944 graduate of Adamson High School in Oak Cliff and a 1948 graduate of SMU where she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She married Hughie Ausa Brown Jr. in June 26, 1948, in Dallas. Mrs. Brown had been an administrative assistant for the VA Hospital in Dallas, retiring in 2003 after 15 years employment. She was an active member of Saint Paul Episcopal Church in Waxahachie.
She is survived by her children, Hugh H. Brown and his wife Carla of Coppell, Rebecca S. Wellborn and her husband Robert of Midlothian; grandson, William H. Brown and his fianc/e Kimberly of Fort Worth; two nephews; one niece; and seven great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Hughie, in 2000.
The family received friends and relatives from 6-8 p.m. Sept. 19 at her residence in Midlothian. A celebration of life was at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, at Saint Paul Episcopal Church in Waxahachie. Interment followed at DFW National Cemetery.
Pallbearers were John Hamaker, Kevin Harris, Dick Jones, Pete Raynor, Rob Schutty and Ron Smith.
