Betty Jean (Carpenter) Thompson, 71, of Dallas passed away Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011, at her home. She was born June 13, 1940, in Waxahachie to Edward and Christine (Johnson) Carpenter. Betty was a good person, who will be missed by many. She loved life and lived it to the fullest. Betty graduated from Waxahachie High School in 1958. Before retirement, she had been the purchasing manager for Victory Paper. She was a loving mother and sister.

Survivors include her son, Royce Thurman (R.T.) Thompson II of Dallas, who has been her caregiver for the last year and a half year; two step-sons, Royce Dale Thompson of Dallas and Jeff Thompson and wife, Paula, of Rowlett; two brothers, Aaron Carpenter and wife, Teddy, of Maypearl and Larry Carpenter and wife, Pam, of Waxahachie; one sister, Sue Morris and husband, Robert, of Maypearl; two granddaughters, Jessica and Jennifer and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Betty was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Royce Thurman Thompson Sr.

Memorial services will be held at 11a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, in the chapel of the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home with Chaplain Chuck Smith and Chris Watson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
