Our beloved Barbara Jean Horn, 67, a wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2007, surrounded by her family.
She was born Aug. 30, 1939, in Fayetteville, Ala., to George and Viola Conn. She married Robert Horn on June 29, 1956, and moved to Texas in 1965.
Barbara was very active in PTA programs in the Lancaster ISD and earned lifetime membership status with the organization. She served as PTA president at Houston Elementary and Lancaster Junior High.
She also worked for Houston Elementary and Lancaster High School cafeterias and retired after more than 10 years of service.
She was also a very active member of the Lancaster Garden Club and the Boy Scouts of America, where she served as den mother for many years.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, George and Viola Conn, sister, Jeanette Fretwell, and granddaughter, Taylor Horn.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Robert Horn; daughters, Debbie Frazier (Milton) of Gun Barrel City, Texas, Karen Rodgers of Lancaster, Texas, and Sharon Sherman (Russell Coe) of Arlington, Texas; sons, Robert M. Horn (June) of S. Williamsport, Pa., Rodney Horn (Teri) of Burleson, Texas, and Greg Horn (Paula) of Cedar Hill, Texas; brothers, Ronald Conn (Sara) and Michael Conn (Susan) of Columbiana, Ala.; sisters, Elsie Parker of Sylacauga, Ala., and Linda Livingston (Larry) of Columbiana, Ala.; 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were her grandsons, Taylor Coe, Tarrant Coe, Kevin Greeson, Kevin Horn, Tim Horn, Clint Reed, Matthew Rodgers, Mark Sacharko, Brandon Sherman and Jeremy Sherman. Honorary pallbearer was her great-nephew, Blake Mooney, of Columbiana.
Visitation was Thursday, June 21 at Byrum Funeral Home in Lancaster. Funeral services were at the First Baptist Church in Lancaster with Brother Edgar Terrell officiating.
Burial was at Edgewood Cemetery.
The family wishes to express their appreciation and thanks for the outpour of sympathy and love shown to them during this difficult time of loss.
