Arvil D. Baker, 66, of Waxahachie, passed away early Friday morning, May 29, 2009, at his home. He was born June 26, 1942, in Waxahachie to Allie D. and Cordie Mae (Graham) Baker. Arvil married JoAnn Byrd on April 28, 1962. He was employed with the Waxahachie Fire Department for six years, Acoustical Services for many years and University Garden Apartments prior to his retirement. Arvil and JoAnn spent many days camping in their travel trailer. It was his greatest joy to be camping and cooking out on the grill. He loved his family very much and he will be greatly missed by all.

Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, JoAnn Baker; two daughters, Pam Bowden and husband Greg and Stephanie Otto and husband Scott; six grandchildren, John Lomas, Candace Ketchurn and husband Matt, Monica Bowden, Kristen Taylor and husband Danny, Aaron Bowden and Eric Bowden; two great-grandchildren, Hunter Ross Taylor and “K” Bowden and his devoted pet, “Dinky,” all of Waxahachie; three sisters, Bobbie Townsend, Darlene West and husband Ronnie and Janie Neal; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Bobby and Shirley Jenkins and James and Sharon Byrd; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends and neighbors.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday, June 1, 2009, in the chapel of Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home with Dr. Ted Brown and Dr. Jerry Lemon officiating. Interment will follow at Rosemont Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Albert Martinez, Brent Fuller, Jon Wilson, Rick Bruce, Kevin Strength and Greg McFadden. Honorary pallbearers will be John Lomas, Aaron Bowden and Eric Bowden.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, May 31, 2009, at Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home.
