Allen Preston Reynolds was born June 22, 1921, to Will and Susie Reynolds in Avalon, Texas, and passed peacefully on March 20, 2011, in Waxahachie.

He was preceded in death by three sisters; five brothers; wife, Ruth in 1990; and wife, Wanda in 2004.

He is survived by his son, Kenneth Reynolds; four grandchildren, Sydney Reynolds, Jana Robison, Bobby Reynolds and Teresa  Reynolds; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Preston was a graduate of Avalon High School, where starred in basketball and baseball, and then served in the U.S. Army in World War II in the Pacific. After the war, he worked for Sherwin Williams Paint and then LTV, where he retired in 1985. As a hard working farm boy from Ellis County, after retirement he had to stay busy, so he started his own company, A.P. Lawn Service, where he mowed lawns, hauled dirt, and planted trees and shrubs up until his health began to fade. Then he really retired to watch his favorite sports team, the Texas Rangers. The good Lord let him live long enough to see Texas to the World Series, where he said, “Them boys finally did it.”

Pap, as he was known by all his immediate family, was a loving husband and father, and loved his grandchildren and enjoyed watching them play sports.  He was a hard working man with many friends and he will be greatly missed. He was a long time member of Midlothian Church of Christ, where he attended regularly until his health prevented him from getting out.

A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, with funeral services scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Midlothian Funeral Home. Interment will be in Midlothian Cemetery.
