Members of the Waxahachie Planning and Zoning Commission approved a site plan for the second phase of Country Lane Senior Apartments during its meeting Wednesday afternoon.
Ken Mitchell presented the site plan for the project, which will be located on Park Hills Drive.
“We have 80 units in the phase two addition and they are all occupied with more people on the waiting list. Many of you have seen phase one that is currently built and completed on the site and, with phase two, we will retain that Victorian look that is featured on the exterior,” Mitchell said.
“The main featured amenity of phase two will be a large ballroom,” he said. “Also, in addition to the apartments, there will be duplexes available.”
The two phases will be connected by a closed-in breezeway; the complex is for people ages 55 and older.
In other business, the commission approved a request by Burl Odom for a specific use permit within a commercial zoning district for a restaurant at 317 N. Elm St. The commission also approved a final plat of Garden Valley Ranch, phase two, located on Garden Valley Parkway at Park Place Boulevard. Phase two will contain 64 lots on 14.468 acres.
A preliminary plat of the Spring Lake Development on U.S. Highway 77 was postponed until the Sept. 9 meeting.
Hickerson to retire from board
Chairman Jim Cooper announced that commissioner Renda Hickerson is stepping down from the board after serving for nine years. Her guidance and leadership on the commission will be missed, he said.
