The Red Oak City Council approved an extension of the preliminary plat for the Woods of Red Oak during its meeting Monday night, June 11. The project includes family residential lots north of Red Oak Road and west of Methodist Street.

In other business, Alan Hanes and Chris Moses were appointed as regular members to the Planning and Zoning Commission and Donald Nevins was named as alternate.

Three new regular members were appointed to the Parks and Recreation Commission: Jeff Smith, Carol Johnson and Adam Chapa. Alternates will be Amy Hedtke and Tamera Moses.

Gloria Evans was approved as a regular member of the Library Advisory Board.

City manager Ken Pfeifer announced plans for the June 30 “Red Oak White and Blue Celebration,” an event planned for the entire community.

The celebration will be held at the Red Oak High School stadium with activities planned from 6:30-9:30 p.m.

Vendor booths will be set up along with a petting zoo and fireworks show.
