The Waxahachie High School talent show will be held from 7-10:30 p.m. Friday, May 11, in the Fine Arts Center. Tickets to the show will cost $3 and will be available at the door.
Republican Women to host fund-raiser dinner
The Ellis County Republican Women will hold a dinner to raise funds for their scholarship program and dictionary project at 7 p.m. Friday, May 11, at the Ellis County Woman’s Building, 407 W. Franklin St., in Waxahachie.
Guest speaker is Dr. Mary Logan, a business educator and English teacher.
The organization also will honor two graduating high school students with scholarships.

Pantherettes spring show
The Midlothian High School Pantherettes present their spring show at 7 p.m. Friday, May 11, and Saturday, May 12. Tickets are $6 each and can be purchased at the door, or by calling (972) 775-8226, ext. 1171.
‘Night of Theatre’
The community is invited to a triple-bill of award-winning one-act plays this Saturday as Waxahachie High School presents its fifth annual “Night of Theatre.”
The curtains go up at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 12, at the Fine Arts Center, with Grandview High School presenting “Confederate Letters,” Midlothian High School performing “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and Waxahachie High School presenting “Assassins.”
Tickets are $5 and are available at the door. All proceeds go toward the WHS drama booster club scholarship fund.
Martial arts benefit
Martial Arts for St. Jude, an event benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, will be held Saturday, May 12, at Cross Martial Center in Midlothian.

The Cherokee Charmers will hold their banquet at 7 p.m. May 12 at Waxahachie Ninth Grade Academy.
After Hours Improv will hold a comedy show at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 12, at the Texas Theater, 110 W. Main St. Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for children age 10 and younger.

Teen Movie Saturday
Teen Movie Saturday at Nicholas P. Sims Library is from 2:30-4:40 p.m. May 12. In this Japanese anime adventure, when 10-year-old Chihiro’s parents are mysteriously changed into animals she must fend for herself. This requires finding a job to make her way in this strange world until she can find her way back home. Bring a friend and enjoy popcorn and a movie.
Ennis Masonic Lodge No. 369 is sponsoring a blood drive in the Wal-Mart parking lot from 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, May 12. There will be two buses: one for double-red givers and the other for regular donations.
