Summer moonlight movies
The city of Waxahachie Main Street Program is sponsoring a series of free movies that will be shown Friday nights in the historic downtown. The movies will be projected onto the side of the Plaid Donkey, located at the corner of Franklin and College streets. Start time for the movie is 9 p.m.
The first movie, “Grease,” will be shown Friday, June 22.
An evening Farmers Market will run in conjunction with the movies. Vendors will be set up at 7:30 p.m. for people to come shop for plants, fruits and vegetables. Many downtown merchants are also extending their store hours to accommodate moviegoers.
“Bring your blankets and lawn chairs and come downtown for a night of family friendly fun,” a spokesman said.
‘Sylvia’ on stage
Ennis Public Theatre presents “Sylvia,” Friday and Saturday nights, through June 30.
Curtain time is at 8 p.m., with a 2:30 p.m. matinee Sunday, June 24.
Written by A.R. Gurney, “Sylvia” is a romantic comedy about a dog, the middle-aged New York couple that adopts her and the drama that results.
The theater is located at 2705C N. Kaufman St. in Ennis. Tickets are $14 for adults and $12 for students and seniors.

The Bardwell reunion is Saturday, June 23. Anyone who attended the Bardwell school or is a resident or has been a resident of the community is invited to attend. It will be held at the new Bardwell community center, which is located on Waxahachie Street. The event begins at 2 p.m. with a potluck meal served at 5.

Ennis Public Theatre will hold auditions for “You Can’t Get There from Here” from 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, June 23, at 2705C N. Kaufman, Ennis.
Women ages 22 to 65 and men ages 22 to 60 are needed.
The show will run Friday and Saturday from Aug. 3-25, with a matinee Sunday, Aug. 26.

The Waxahachie Downtown Farmers Market is held every Saturday from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. and continues through Oct. 27. The market is located at the south end of the Ellis County Courthouse on Franklin Street between Rogers and College. Vendors have fresh vegetables and fruits, plants, crafts and wares for purchase. Smoothies and other refreshments are also available. Master Gardeners are on site every week to answer agricultural questions.
