The Waxahachie Department of Environmental Health wants residents to know that the department will be stepping up the enforcement of the outdoor storage and junk vehicle ordinance. The ordinance was passed by the city council last year and its goal is to improve the quality of life in the city.
“It has been a little bit over a year now since the ordinance was put into effect and we have had quite a bit of success. Unfortunately we get some areas cleaned up and there are some new areas that are always appearing in violation,” Director of Environmental Health Sonny Wilson said. “In the past when it was a new ordinance we thought that we would give people the benefit of the doubt. We would give them reminders and extensions. When we get a complaint now, we are going to investigate it and send out the legal notices that we have to. When the time frame is up and it is not corrected we are going to start issuing citations.”
