A 26-year-old Waxahachie woman has died as a result of a one-vehicle accident in Freestone County.
The accident occurred at 12:55 a.m. Wednesday on County Road 196, about 17 miles north of Fairfield.
According to a Department of Public Safety report, a northbound 1994 Chevrolet Blazer drifted off of the roadway and up an embankment. The vehicle overturned and went back onto the roadway, sliding on its roof, according to the report, which indicates the driver was partially ejected.
Neither the driver, Jessica Miranda Braden, nor the passenger, 27-year-old Tyrel James Wilkes of Streetman, were wearing seatbelts, according to the report. Braden was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:37 a.m. by Justice of the Peace Shirley Mays.
Wilkes was transported to a Tyler hospital, where he was listed in critical condition with major trauma to his arm, according to the report.
