Waxahachie Foundation Inc. announces grants totaling $7,500 were awarded during June and July to the public pool at Lee Penn Park and the public Optimist swimming pool.
“Splashing around in the pool with friends” remains a strong memory for many of the Waxahachie Foundation trustees.
“As kids, we lived for summer so we could go swimming,” foundation vice president Teresa McNiel said. “And, it’s no different today. That is why the Waxahachie Foundation is very happy to award grants to the Penn Park Pool and Optimist Pool.”
Both public pools rely on donations and grants to stay open each summer.
“The Waxahachie Foundation mission is to support worthy nonprofits and I can’t think of anything more worthwhile than seeing these young boys and girls swimming, splashing and having a great time,” said Jeanne Moseley, Waxahachie Foundation trustee, who spent almost every summer of her youth at the Optimist Club swimming pool with her sister and friends.

Donations and memorials to the Waxahachie Foundation Inc. are always welcome. “One gift helps hundreds,” a spokesman said.
