HGTV is on the lookout for fun, high-energy people who are willing to share the experience of buying a home for the first time on television. Casting is taking place now for “My First Place” which enters its 11th season and that will be filming in the Dallas Fort Worth area this fall and is looking for volunteers from Waxahachie.

“Our goal is to be there with cameras from the beginning to capture all the challenges and decisions of every step of the home buying process. It’s a lot of fun for the homebuyers and for the producers because we get to be a part of this amazing first-time experience,” casting producer Kathryn Richert said.

“Taping begins this fall and extends through the winter months, so act now if you want to be on the show. Ideal candidates will be interesting, energetic people with a great story to tell. Singles, couples and families are all invited to apply.”

The show chronicles first-time homebuyers’ struggles and successes as they go through the potentially overwhelming process of searching for, bidding on, inspecting and ultimately buying a home for the first time. Audiences learn the ins and outs of buying a home through the homebuyers’ journey to becoming homeowners.

Richert said a realtor; a friend or family member accompanies the homebuyer, which helps them get through the stresses that accompany such a large venture. The homebuyer learns to balance what they want with what they can afford in each half-hour episode.

The show also seeks to showcase a variety of different properties that display the flavor and atmosphere of the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

While no formal casting call is taking place anyone interested in being considered for this to be on the show, please send an email to Richert to or call 303-872-8764 to request an application.  You can also apply online at:

Candidates who complete taping will receive a monetary gift as part of the show and also a DVD copy of their episode to document their first home- buying experience for all time.
