RED OAK –Mayor Alan Hugley and City Manager Todd Fuller announced Thursday that, with the support of the Red Oak City Council and the board of the Red Oak Industrial Development Corporation, they have successfully recruited Triumph Aerostructures-Vought Aircraft Division to establish an aerospace production facility in Red Oak.

Triumph Aerostructures-Vought Aircraft Division designs, tests and manufactures aerostructures for commercial, military and business jet aircraft. Products include fuselages, wings, empennages, nacelles and helicopter cabins. It is a subsidiary of Triumph Group Inc., which purchased Dallas-based Vought Aircraft Industries Inc. in June 2010.

The new facility will be located in the Red Oak Industrial Park on Ovilla Road. The initial building, which should be under construction this year, will support a new manufacturing program for the company. It will be 240,000 square feet of production space on 28 acres and represents more than a $70 million investment by Triumph. At startup, it will employ about 125 skilled technicians and engineers, with full employment rising to about 265 within five years. The total property to be purchased by Triumph Aerostructures-Vought Aircraft Division consists of 100 acres of the Red Oak Industrial Park, which provides for future expansion options.

“Highly skilled, good-paying, American manufacturing jobs like these are hard to come by. We are exceptionally pleased that Triumph Aerostructures has chosen to make a home in Red Oak,” Hugley said. “This is another step forward toward our goal of making this a city where we can live, work, shop, and play, all at home in our own community.

“I also hope that this will reinforce our message to the North Texas business community that Ellis County, Texas, is a viable and economical place to do business and bring employment,” he said.

“Despite tough economic times, Ellis County is committed to seeking growth and maximizing job opportunities,” Ellis County Judge Carol Bush said. “We would welcome Triumph Aerostructures and the economic development it would bring.”

Triumph Group Inc., headquartered in Berwyn, Penn., designs, engineers, manufactures, repairs and overhauls a broad portfolio of aerostructures, aircraft components, accessories, subassemblies and systems. The company serves a broad, worldwide spectrum of the aviation industry, including original equipment manufacturers of commercial, regional, business and military aircraft and aircraft components, as well as commercial and regional airlines and air cargo carriers.
